Helmsley Recreation Ground is a Registered Charity number 523358.

The Trustees of the Charity are Helmsley Town Council acting as a corporate body.

The two previous charities which operated on the Baxtons Road site were:
The Feversham Memorial Committee
and
The John Atkinson Memorial Playing Fields
The two bodies were successfully amalgamated on the 21 December 2006

Work started soon after the Trusts amalgamation on the regeneration of the whole facility sited on Baxtons Road.

Town Councillor John Buffoni leads on this regeneration project for the Town Council and Community Matters an organisation dedicated to assisting moribund charities are acting as advisors.

Several operating committees have been formed to assist in this project and expertise in any related field is always welcome.

Discussions have taken place with various bodies with the aim of moving the regeneration issue and whilst the first round of bidding for funding was unsuccessful alternative avenues are being researched..
